Job Description


The Microsoft 365 Design Engineer and Administrator will provide day-to-day support and participate in and lead their own projects for implementing new and enhancing existing Microsoft 365 workloads, for Identity, desktop, security, modern work collaboration, evaluating and recommending new solutions, troubleshooting, and training.  This position has amazing opportunities for a self-starter to expand their technical expertise within Microsoft 365 Design and Administration. All IT positions at our company provide end-user helpdesk support at all levels therefore, you must have broad knowledge in many technologies as an IT generalist.


The Microsoft 365 Engineer reports to the Chief Information Officer. We are a small tight knit group of IT professionals; you must be passionate about technology and committed to honing your craft. There are opportunities for paid continuing education.


Core Competencies
  • Communication: Excellent English written and verbal skills
  • Technical Expertise: Desired a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT/IS/MIS or relevant work experience of at least 5 years in Information Technology. Other degrees and certifications will be considered.
  • Problem Solving: Must be able to work independently and collaboratively with IT staff and end-users to solve technical issues, research solutions and present multiple options, as well as the ability to identify potential solutions and make recommendations that align with the company goals.
  • Planning and organizing skills: Able to create work plans, with deliverables, and meet deadlines on a regular basis.
  • Adaptability: Must be able to multitask and keep projects on schedule, change tasks and direction as needed for unexpected end-user support, troubleshooting or other time sensitive needs. Must have a high degree of desire to learn new technologies and gain deeper experience/knowledge and be a self-starter in this area.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate, verbal and written, with a wide variety of people from business executives, staff and sales agents with wide technical skill differences.


Duties and Responsibilities
  • Management of the Microsoft 365 workloads and complementary systems such as SEG.
  • Responsible for aiding in the maintenance, configuration and reliable operation of computer systems, network, desktops and servers.
  • Evaluating and installing new software, hardware, and technical solutions to meet business objectives.
  • Work with SaaS systems line-of-business, LAN/WAN networks, firmware, hardware, and software by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, and assessing impact of issues and communicating effectively to management.
  • Follow, recommend, implement and monitor security controls to ensure the overall security posture of the company and its systems. 
  • Implement best practices for security of systems including patching systems at all levels to reduce the attack surface area, implement appropriate user controls and recommend company policies and security frameworks.
  • Helpdesk support for end users as needed, documenting problems and resolutions, assessing the impact of issues, and finding solutions for recurring problems.
  • Create effective documentation for both end-users and technical documentation.


Skills and qualifications
  • Desired a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT/IS/MIS or relevant work experience of at least 5 years in Information Technology. Other degrees and certifications will be considered.
  • 5-years of system administration experience.
  • Ability to work without day to day supervision.
  • Ability to create repeatable, reliable processes.
  • Understanding of Microsoft 365 Design and Administration of various workloads including Identity, Intune Suite, Exchange, helpful to have a solid understanding of mail flow and email delivery troubleshooting. 
  • Added consideration for understanding Azure services, compute, storage and similar technologies.
  • Certifications in security, system administration, Microsoft 365, networking, client-server concepts, firewall, and printing and Mac, MDM beneficial.
  • Ability to script and automate tasks using common script languages and automation tools, PowerShell Windows, PowerShell for Microsoft 365/Azure.
  • Backup and Recovery fundamentals including disaster recovery protocols, testing and documentation.


Additional Requirements
  • Working extended hours or weekends as necessary, especially during unplanned events such as failed systems or emergencies.
  • Personal transportation, with the ability to transport company equipment as needed, general passenger car
  • Travel within Southern California up to 20% (all travel costs are reimbursed)
  • Ability to lift 40 - 50lbs
