Job Description


Our client is a leading global firm in the investment management industry and is seeking an experienced Assistant Vice President – Cloud Engineer to help lead the design, governance, and evolution of its Microsoft Azure cloud environment. This hybrid role is based in Los Angeles, with three in-office days per week.

The ideal candidate will bring deep hands-on technical expertise in Microsoft Azure, strong knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), automation, and observability, and a passion for building secure, scalable, and cost-effective cloud solutions. This role will work closely with architecture, security, and operations teams to deliver modern cloud infrastructure supporting global financial operations.
Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cloud architects to implement modern Azure architectural patterns and standards.

  • Lead and support workload migrations from on-premises and legacy systems to Azure.

  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Terraform and integrate with CI/CD pipelines.

  • Automate provisioning, configuration, and policy enforcement to improve speed and consistency.

  • Support FinOps initiatives to optimize and monitor cloud costs.

  • Implement observability standards including logging, metrics, and tracing for Azure workloads.

  • Partner with security teams to maintain compliance with NIST, ISO 27001, and internal governance frameworks.

  • Document engineering processes, develop reusable templates and playbooks, and promote knowledge sharing.
Qualifications

  • 6–8 years of hands-on cloud engineering experience, with strong focus on Microsoft Azure.

  • Experience in financial services or other regulated industries preferred.

  • Proficiency in Terraform, Azure Resource Manager (ARM), and CI/CD tools.

  • Strong understanding of cloud networking, identity management, and security principles.

  • Familiarity with FinOps, cloud cost management tools, and observability platforms.

  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

  • Preferred certifications: Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator, or equivalent.
